1. ใช้ The เมื่อพูดถึงสิ่งที่มีเพียงหนึ่งเดียวในโลก เช่น the sun, the moon, the world, the sky เป็นต้น
- Ex. The earth goes around the sun and the moon goes around the earth.
- Ex. We look at the sky and smile together.
2. ใช้ The เมื่อพูดถึงสิ่งที่ได้กล่าวถึงไปแล้ว
- Ex. A dog is running outside my house. The dog is black.
- Ex. I left my bag in the living room. The bag is on a red sofa.
3. ใช้ The กับ Superlative (เปรียบเทียบขั้นสูงสุด)
- Ex. Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world.
- Ex. My mom is the most beautiful woman in the world for me.
4. ใช้ The เมื่อพูดถึงสิ่งที่ทั้งผู้พูดและผู้ฟังรู้อยู่แล้ว
- Ex. I am going to the bank. Do you want to go with me?
- Ex. Wait for me at the park. I will be there in 10 minutes.
5. ใช้ The กับ Adjective เมื่อแสดงถึงความเป็นกลุ่มก้อน
- Ex. My family donates some old clothes to the poor.
6. ใช้ The เมื่อพูดถึงเครื่องดนตรี
- Ex. My best friend plays the piano well.
7. ใช้ The กับภูมิศาสตร์ เช่น the ocean, the mountain, the rivers, the island เป็นต้น
- Ex. I will go on a cruise down the Chao Phraya River.
8. ใช้ The กับประเทศที่มีคำว่า kingdom, republic, states
- Ex. My dream destination is the United States, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea.
9. ใช้ The กับประเทศที่มีชื่อเป็นพหูพจน์ เช่น The Netherlands, The Philippines เป็นต้น
10. ใช้ The กับสถานที่สำคัญ อนุสาวรีย์ พิพิธภัณฑ์
